Top Ten Tuesdays was created by The Broke and Bookish, but is now hosted weekly by That Artsy Reader Girl and anyone is free to participate! This week’s topic is most anticipated reads for the first half of 2019 and BOY DO I HAVE SOME. SO. MANY. I will be reading so much romance in the first half of 2019, god bless me. There will be so much romance read this first half of the year. It’s pretty much going to be fantasy and romance for me–and if you read my blog, for you as well! But anyway, let’s go!
- King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo
This is probably one of my most anticipated books since I heard Leigh Bardugo was releasing it last year (maybe in April or something)? I read the first chapter, and then promptly tried not to think about it because I knew I would have to wait for so long. Ever since we met Nikolai in Siege and Strom and then again in Crooked Kingdom, I have been pinning after a book about the King of Ravka himself. We have been blessed in the year of our Lord 2019. - The Wicked King by Holly Black
This is literally all I have to say about having The Wicked King on my TBR:
https://twitter.com/bookdragonism/status/1081478379440762880 - Match Me if You Can by Tiana Smith
This book about match-making just sounds like so much fun. I just can’t wait to read it! - The Match-Maker’s List by Sonya Lalli
I love reading books that mix the competitive spirit of a game with the “high stakes” challenge of love. It always makes for a fun and exciting romance story. There’s nothing better and I do not expect to be disappointed by this one. - Unmarriageable by Soniah Kamal
Huzzah!! Another Pride and Prejudice retelling has graced my TBR and I couldn’t be more thrilled. I will never get enough hate-to-love—it’s physically impossible. - 99 Percent Mine by Sally Thorne
I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR SALLY THORNE’S SOPHOMORE NOVEL FOR MORE THAN A YEAR AND A HALF AND I’M SO PUMPED TO READ HER HUMOR. There’s no one else who does humor quite like her, and I’m extremely excited to read another one of her books. - Love from A to Z by S. K. Ali
I love Saints and Other Misfits, S.K. Ali’s debut, and I didn’t even know her sophomore was coming out so I’m really excited to hear about it. - Descendant of the Crane by Joan He
I am so excited for this Chinese inspired fantasy! It looks epic and political and I have the perfect jacket to take pictures with it already so I’m psyched. - The Austen Playbook by Lucy Parker
I’ve never ready any Lucy Parks books before, but I am working on a post about Pride and Prejudice and so am reading many books I might not usually. I usually like to start at the beginning, even if it is a series of standalones. But I’ll make an exception for this one.
Well, that’s about it for me, what Jan-Jun 2019 releases are you excited for?!
I’m also excited for more Nikolai, but I’m also so worried that I’m just going to be disappointed!!!
LikeLike
YES–everyone seems to be hyping it and I really hope I’m not disappointed! I have high expectations and faith in of Bardugo and Nikolai both so hopefully it’ll just make me want to read the sequel.

Me either-I’ve only just met him in Siege and Storm, but I’m loving him so far.

He is immediately SO love-able. IT COULD HAVE BEEN GREAT! Did you already finish Ruin and Rising? We must discuss!
LikeLike
Oh he is! Ha ha no, I’m just over halfway through Siege and Storm, so I’ll have finished Ruin and Rising by the end of the month, hopefully.

Yay!! Then you’ll be able to read King of Scars and have context! Have you read King of Scars??
LikeLike
That’s the plan! Yes, I’ve read Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom, and Shadow and Bone, but not Siege and Storm or Ruin and Rising-I did things in kind of an odd order I suppose!

Oh it’s fine! Did you find it hard to read Six of Crows first? I heard that from some people.
LikeLike
No, not really! I mean some of the world kind of went over my head, but the story was definitely not difficult to understand.

Oh that’s good. Yeah I heard most people had trouble with understanding the magic system. She doesn’t spend a lot of time in SoC explaining it so that’s understandavke

Yeah you just kind of get dumped in there, I mean it’s not hard to pick up, but I’m glad I hve the background now.

We have so many releases in common. Also, Match Me If You Can is a very cute and quick read. It reminded me of a 90s romcom. Happy Reading!
