Top Ten Tuesdays was created by The Broke and Bookish, but is now hosted weekly by That Artsy Reader Girl and anyone is free to participate! This week’s topic is places I want to visit from books. Now don’t get me wrong, I love to travel and I love to see new places. But there aren’t a whole lot of places I’m dying to read from books. So this is going to be a rather boring post. Most places in books are fictional and so unless it’s a fantasy (with a few exceptions) I don’t really have a desire to go to the place because of the book. More like I just want to visit the place because it sounds cool and to try the food there. I know people are going to be like, “What about the Grisha Universe? Ketterdam? What about the Hunger Games” ?! And listen, those places are SAD. I don’t want to go there, I would get robbed in Ketterdam, nothing about Ravka makes me want to visit there and please, we don’t need to get into “why” for The Hunger Games. I just want to visit peaceful places and look at all the decorations and stuff. Anyway, I do have a couple places I want to visit on my list, so let’s go!
- Hogwarts pre-Harry Potter starting there
I mean I think we’d all like to visit Hogwarts wouldn’t we? But visiting pre- all the Harry Potter shit would be optimal. Of course that means we couldn’t be study buddies with Hermione… But it would be so fun to just walk around and explore Hogwarts, everything would be so interesting. I would definitely want to visit the astronomy tower at midnight, the kitchens with all the house elves, the Great Hall with it’s magically changing ceiling, Hagrid’s Hut, The Quiddich pitch, the room of requirement… There’s too many too chose from! If I had to pick one, I’m certain I would want to visit the kitchens because I love food too much and I would want to be like, “Please bring me a shepherd’s pie, a piece of bread with honey butter, and also a strawberry soda” and it would be glorious and beautiful. I would gain so much weight if I went to Hogwarts, holy shit.
- Pemberley from Pride and Prejudice
Ah Pemberley. Ever since I saw the Kiera Knightly version of Pride and Prejudice, I’ve always pictured Pemberley as a white stone house. Majestic and imposing with a lake (for Mr. Dary and Mr. Gardner to fish in) well stocked and its occupants left in peace far too long. I was driving around the area where I live one day (I live at the base of a mountain) and further up in the mountain there was a house that definitely looked like it had been modeled after Pemberley. It had so many windows! If I lived in a house like that, which I probably wouldn’t ever do, I would definitely hire someone to clean all my windows.
- The Night Circus
There’s something so ethereal about The Night Circus. The black and white tents, the illusions and magic and the carpal popcorn. I would have loved to see the fire lighting each night that opened the circus. There’s no doubt I would sleep all day so I could stay until dawn. There are so many tents described in the book it’s hard to keep track of them all. But a couple that I remember well are the Wishing Tree that Celia created, and the cloud maze; that I actually think Celia made too haha.
What are some places you want to visit in books? Maybe I’ll get some ideas from you guys!
I would DIE to visit the Night Circus.

Ha ha Hogwarts probably would be a lot less dangerous without Harry! The Night Circus would also be wonderful to visit.

It would be so peaceful and just like people studying and stuff. The students in Harry’s time were so deprived of that.

Yeah they really were.

I’m with you about visiting Hogwarts before Harry Potter, I think it would actually be more fun because there wouldn’t be as much weird shit going on, at least I would hope not. I would also love to visit Narnia, and then Rivendell from Lord of the Rings.
