Top Ten Tuesdays was created by The Broke and Bookish, but is now hosted weekly by That Artsy Reader Girl and anyone is free to participate! This week’s topic is books I would like to receive this holiday season! I’m a little reserved when it comes to owning books. I don’t like to own a lot, and if I do own any it’s because they were given as gifts, I want my kids to have access to them (when I have kids), or I plan to read them more than once. I kind of talked about this a little bit in my post about owning books. But I still like to own books, don’t get me wrong, and when people come over to my house, my bookshelf is the first thing they see. I still dream of owning a place where I can put a Little Free Library for any kids in the neighborhood to come and pursue. Anyway, I digress. Here are some books I’d love to get this year!

  1. Book Cover Designs by Matthew Goodman
I would love to receive this book as a present. I’ve been eyeing it for the last couple years but have never gotten around to actually finding it. It’s not always in stock. It’s the kind of book I’d like to read and then leave on my coffee table. But it’s also a whooping $27.00… so it’s a bit expensive and the e-books have been calling my name lately.
  2. Unmarriageable by Soniah Kamal
I am so excited for this Pride and Prejudice inspired story set in Pakistan. I am bursting with excitement and hoping I get at least a little Amazon money so I can buy a physical copy. I moved recently and the library I moved close to is a bit sparse, and by a bit. I mean very.
  3. Horimiya Vol. 11 by Hero
I LOVE Horimiya. It’s adorable and fun and so funny. I would love to entire series to be completely honest, but I’m really interested in Vol. 11 at this point because, as mentioned before, my library doesn’t have it.
  4. 1894 version of Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
I recently talked about the 1894 cover by Hugh Thompson in my last Cover Assessment and why I love this cover more than any other Pride and Prejudice cover. I don’t really like the writing of Pride and Prejudice, but I love the story so much I would love to have this beautiful copy.
  5. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid
I read this book just recently and I credit it with getting me out of my slump. I really loved the story and the writing was so compelling. I would love to own a copy of the book so I can read it whenever I want.
  6. Something About Us by Yunji Lee
I’m obsessed with this webcomic you can read on Le Zhin—a Korean webcomic website. It’s adorable and so swoon worthy. It’s high school friends to lovers and it’s the best thing ever. The artwork is sophisticated, yet playful and they’re adapting it into a K-drama! I would love a physical copy of the English translation for my own bookshelf!
  7. Soppy by Philippa Rice
If you know me, I read a lot of graphic novels, and this is one of my favorites. It’s the story of how the illustrator met her partner and their quiet life together. It’s hopeful and endearing and shows all the moments in life that we find comfort in despite the fact that they’re so small.

I think that’s it—I mean you can never have too many books, but these were some that stood out to me. What books are you hoping to get this holiday season? Let me know in the comments below!
