Well well well, nice to see you again summer (actually it’s felt like summer for the last 2 months here in Nevada, UGH I’m dying here in this heat). Good thing I have an great inside activity: reading! Top Ten Tuesdays is hosted weekly by The Broke and Bookish and anyone is free to participate! This week’s topic is related to summer reads. I’m REALLY on a contemporary kick. Maybe it’s because ALL I’ve seen is ACOWAR and I’m kind of really over it (don’t hate me). Anyway, I’ve been reading a lot of e-books lately and that’s really fun because there’s SO much New Adult on the Kindle e-book store. I’ve been finding a lot of great stuff, mostly by some Filipino authors! Anyway, I have many more plans to read more contemporary this summer. Obviously I’ll be reading some fantasy books, but here’s (some of) what I’m looking forward to.
- No Strings Attached by Mina E. Esguerra
This is the definition of a cute and adorable summer romance. I love flings and I usually don’t go for age gaps, but 5 years isn’t so much that it seems creepy/wrong. After all, there’s 4 years between my husband and I. - The Melody of You and Me by M. Hollis
I’m not terribly interested in the plot of this book, but I’ve heard so many good things about it from people on Twitter I’m resigned to reading it this summer. - All’s Fair in Blog and War Chrissie Peria
I was also hesitant about this book, but after reading the summary, I was COMPLETELY sold. Social media/photography, a competition plus a hate-to-love what else is there to ask for in a romance for the summer?? - Love on my Mind by Tracey Livesay
To continue with my NA addiction, this book is also about a woman who works in business and the love interest looks SO TENDER. Please tender boys. I only want to read about them from now on. The bad boy trope is DED, let it stay in the ground. - Settle the Score/Hustle Play by Tara Frejas
I love how atypical this cheerleader/star athlete trope is. The woman is the star basketball player on her college team and the guy is a cheerleader. A new twist on a cliche. YES. - Always and Forever Lara Jean by Jenny Han
I wasn’t completely sold on Lara Jean in TATBILB, but P.S. completely entranced me. I really love Lara Jean in this book and it really hit all my sweet spots. Currently crying while waiting for my hold to come in. - Seven Ways We Lie and Noteworthy by Riley Redgate
I havne’t ready any Redgate books, but both of these look so good! I hope to get to them ASAP. - The Comfort Zone by Sally Thorne
Word on the street is Sally Throne’s new book drops this summer (I checked and it’s actually September 20… but that’s still closeish to summer) and after reading The Hating Game, I’m addicted. I need her next book. I’m just so glad I read it close to when the next one is being published! - Queen of the Geeks by Jen Wilde
I’ve heard SO much goodness about this book so I’m psyched to read it. It sounds like the perfect summer read. But alas the library has few copies and many people put it on hold before me *side eyes past me*. You’re starting to notice a pattern here. - The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas
I’ve had MANY plans to read this book, but other patrons *side eye* at the library are taking so dang long to read it. Hurry up patrons, we all need to be educated by this book!
Any mutuals? What are you reading this summer??
I need to read the entire ‘Boys’ trilogy by Jenny Han still. But the “pro” of not having read them means now the trilogy is complete (and I have them all!), I can binge read them. 🙂
Hope you enjoy your summer reads.

YES!! I absolutely love binging series like this. I ran into the problem of not finishing it a couple weeks, but luckily the last book is out now!!

I hope people hurry up and finish THUG so you can read it! It’s such a well-written and powerful book, and I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. I was skeptical of Always and Forever (first I thought it was a standalone, then I thought it was a duology), but I’ve heard good things, so I might read it after all. The first two books were super cute. Other than those two, I don’t recognize any of the books on your list!

I know!! I’ve heard nothing but phenomenal things about it; my husband and I will probably read it together. Lara Jean is such a likable character, and I LOVE her character development and growth! Like I said above, I’ve been trying to read a lot of NA (to get a post together), so I’ve been looking at recs by The Book Voyagers and @SueYAHollywood (they’ve got a million!)

On the other hand, I guess we should celebrate the fact that it’s in such high demand? I’m glad your husband will read it with you. I read it with my boyfriend!

I waited so long to get a copy of The Hate U Give from the library, my library is a part of a consortium so it has inter-library loans, I was happily amazed at how many people had the book on hold.

I know! It’s such a love/hate relationships. Like I’m happy that you all are reading it but please just read at my pace (1-2 days) and return it so we can read it too! lol

Right? It’s pretty much always summer here in the Phoenix area. Yuck. I hate it. You’re right — it’s a good thing we have reading for a nice, cool hobby 🙂 I haven’t read any of the books on your list, but I’m adding a bunch of them to my TBR list.
Happy TTT!
