TTT: Top books recently recommended to me by another person

Top Ten Tuesdays is hosted weekly by The Broke and Bookish and anyone is free to participate! This week’s theme is recommended books, but I’ve had lots of books recommended to me, but I can’t remember all of them *tear falls* So I made a list of recently recommended books. Tbh, most of these books are from the Internet! Some from blogs, some I’ve just seen around Twitter. Alright! Here we go, I’ve also read all of these and you can find my reviews for all of them on my blog here, check them out if you want!

1. Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi
   
   I found out about this book from the NYT and as usual, their recommendations do not disappoint. The writing in this book is fluent and the stories heartbreaking. But it’s an amazing piece of literature and a real testament to the history and the influences out of our control.
2. Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare
   
   I went through a Shadowhunter phase when I was in high school and I appreciate reading them for fun, but that was so long ago I didn’t think I would ever read Lady Midnight. But I saw so many positive reviews about it I just had to pick it up!
3. A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas
   Sarah J. Maas really came into her own while I was away adulting at college so I didn’t hear about her until I joined the book community on Twitter and immediatley saw all the hype about ACOMAF so I knew I had to read it and put on a hold at the library to see what all the hubub was about.
4. Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodges
   
   After I read ACOTAR, I went to read what other people thought of about the book and I stumbled upon this review and Emily compared the book to Cruel Beauty and said Cruel Beauty was so much better, so I searched it out and I defintiely saw a lot of things I liked in Cruel Beauty that I didn’t like in ACOTAR, but there were also things I think were better in ACOTAR. So it was a win-win because I got to read them both!
5. Ready Player One by Ernest Cline
   This is one of the only recent recommended I’ve had in person. My husband is a HUGE fantasy Sci-Fi guy and he demanded I read this one. He was right! It’s amazing and Cline did a fantastic job creating the virtual world.
6. To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han
   
   I almost didn’t read this one because I wasn’t that interested, but after seeing so many positive reviews and tweets about it on the Internet I decided to pick it up and was not disappointed!
7. Ivory and Bone by Julie Eshbaugh
   
   Well the Internet did the work for me, and I loved the cover so I decided to read this one. I don’t actually have it anymore as I traded it away because I didn’t like it. But I know a lot of people did.
8. The Wrath and the Dawn
   
   Heard about this from—you guessed it!—Twitter. Turns out I find a lot of book recommendations from Twitter. Go figure! I liked this one enough to read the sequel, but it wasn’t my favorite.
9. Shadow and Bone
   This is the first book I read when I “joined” the book community on Twitter and it was a pretty good one to start with. I just bought it out of the blue and it was definitely an enjoyable read!
