It was reported by The Huffington Post that J.K Rowling won an apology and damages from the Daily Mail who alleged she wrote a sob story about when she was a single mother.

The judge said the publisher of Daily Mail accepted that the everything written was false, published an apology and promised not to repeat the information.

“Associated Newspapers Ltd has also agreed to pay the creator of Harry Potter substantial damages, which she is donating to charity, and to contribute to her legal costs, said her lawyer.”

I feel like recently in the world, there have been multiple infractions of frivolous litigation.

But liable is not the same thing as these other frivolous litigation, when something is printed incorrectly about you, it can cause serious damage.

And I applaud J.K. Rowling for getting the justice she feels she needs. But more than that, I admire her for not making it about money.

Frivolous litigation have been increasingly more common because people want money they don’t need and the legal system has set a trend that they can win.

But J.K. Rowling obviously isn’t in it for the money. She is donating the money to charity and to cover the legal costs.

When everything in the world seems to be about money; how much you have, how much you spend, how much you need, J.K. Rowling has showed us that it’s not about the money.

It’s about what is right and wrong. And when restitution needs to be made.

More than ever, we need that in our world.
